First Discussion On Group Project

Today our group found two organizations of English teaching: One is ESL found by me, the other is EF found by Water. I knew ESL from the information people provided in a group I joined. In the group there is a girl called Amalia who used to teach in ESL. She seems really helpful, but due to the constraint of time, we didn’t talk much yet. I think maybe she could be potential to let me know more about ESL and help me get the contacts of the manager, teachers and students. And also, maybe she could be included in our interview---about her further teaching experiences on SL, and the differences between her teaching in SL and RL, etc.

By the ESL link, the place I have been teleported to is a round place with glass walls. There I saw a board on which there is the class schedule on which there are classes taught in different ways: texts, voice, and skype. This link is also their class schedule: http://www.drive-through-esl.info/index.html. But I don’t know how to go to the classes yet, so I will ask. Later, Water teleported us to EF, which is a two-floor building. There are many computers and their commercial posters. We didn’t see anyone in EF. Water said she will contact the owner of this place.
Then I suggested that we make two questionnaires, one for the three organizations and the other for students. For the questionnaire for organizations, we will ask about their ways of teaching English, how they make their organizations competitive and their styles of brands, how they know their students learn from classes, the differences between teaching in SL and RL, etc. For the questionnaire for students, we will ask about how they learn from English classes on SL and the differences between learning on SL and RL, etc. The two questionnaires will be compared together and analyzed.

About the distribution of the first stage work, Water and I will be in charge of making the questionnaire for organizations, and Alice and Heather will be in charge of that for students. Afterwards, we will discuss about the two questionnaires and make adjustments. We expect to find one more organization, accomplish the questionnaires, and get more understandings of the organizations before the class next week.
